Maximalism pop art

Acrylic painting of a pop can castle, discarded crowns, big platform shoes and a retro, crowded, pop art feel.

Maximalist Pop Art. I’VE FOUND MY HOME.

In the arts, maximalism, a reaction against minimalism, is an aesthetic of excess. The philosophy can be summarized as "more is more", contrasting with the minimalist motto "less is more".

Welcome to my INFJ brain, it’s running on all cylinders and always, endlessly, thinking. Seeing patterns and imagining deep worlds. I like to paint busy scenarios, with lots of imagery to take in, and subtle messages to be consumed.

But let’s take all that, and add NEON colors to it. The end result of that lethal combination is what I call my art. And I’ve lacked a name for it, till now. I found my niche today.

And so, this piece is my latest and best representation of where I’m heading with my art and staying, at least while this niche holds my focus. I’ll never commit to a niche label box just to stay in it. I like to bend all the rules within the box, then leave when I’m content and wish to try something different.

This is called “The Queen of Pop”

It’s a 12 x 12 inch gallery quality canvas with acrylic paints. There are discarded crowns around, she doesn’t need your approval. She’s content within, in fact she’s built the castle walls out of pop cans, to keep everyone out. She’s got the galaxy at her fingertips.

I’ve submitted this to a Gallery for their summer contest. I should hear by May 12th if it’s been accepted to be hung up in the summer long show.
