Maximalist painting part deux

I love it when inspiration just knocks me right over. And I have to start working, without starting my usual prep. I'm in too much of a rush to get the idea out on canvas, to deal with turning on my music and setting up properly.

One thing I can never do is pre-line my paintings. I must go in on a clean canvas freely. I know this affects my ability to produce the clean lines and flat paintings. My style that I offer is textured paintings with hurried, intense brush strokes.

I have tried, time and again, to preplan a painting, pre-determine the colors etc, and go about it methodically. And it just kills my spirit to work that way. Everyone has their own unique way of producing their art. Mine requires a level of freedom to it, to change it up as I see fit.

Oh I'm so excited about this. The mannequin is looking awesome, bearing some slight resemblance to Twiggy. It was unintentional at first, but now I see Twiggy in there, so I'm going to gear it to her face. The 90’s bowling alley pattern soothes my soul to make it. I love to paint planets, as my head is always up in the stars and the possibilities of what could be.

There's some recurring themes in this work in progress from earlier paintings of mine. I've added three photos to highlight the reoccurring themes. Things to discuss more in another post.

Leopard print is a heavy favorite of mine. The crazier color combos, the more intrigued I am.

Flowing tears brings me relief to paint them. I'm a hugely emotional person, always working towards balance internally. And painting my heavy tears really does something inside for me.

And the Koi are back 💜🦇. Koi and Horses, are the first two major animals I studied hard to “get right”.
