Tattoo lines & an artist’s time.- tattoo permissions post.

This is the tattoo art discussion post.

If you've followed me for any amount of time, it's apparent I love tattoo culture and a lot of my designs could be easy to transfer to a tattoo. I don't tattoo skin, yet. It's still something I'm considering one day though.

When it comes to monetizing my tattoo flash, I mean I can sell my flash to shops in person. But the majority of people who want niche robot tattoos, are NOT local, so I went online and started research on how larger artists were handling that. I learned that a great majority of people online don't want to pay for the rights for use of existing art or tattoo flash. Makes sense if they can just print the image quietly at home and go to a shop and it's not custom to them.

Any self respecting professional tattoo artist will question if you're allowed to use the lineart for the tattoo. In turn many will deny drawing the tattoo if they don't think there's proper permission to use it.

But you can absolutely find people who will tattoo you at their kitchen table, next to the garbage can, and their cats licking the ink on the table, that he's about to tattoo you with. They have next to no rules, & will tattoo anything on you. At the additional cost of chicken scratch lines, potential blood diseases and infections. But the tattoo was cheap and you don't care about the other things now that the adrenaline rush is over.

I don't want anyone going to back alley kitchen rando places,

✨if you want to use my art to tattoo on yourself, please go ahead. It's absolutely cool with me. Yes your tattoo artist can alter the image to fit the muscle space on your skin, this means the tattoo artist may move the clouds around or other things, change some colors etc so the flash sits better on your body.✨

🛑This is not permission to print my designs and turn them into merch/t-shirts/stickers for yourself. You can use my designs for TATTOOS ON SKIN, ONLY.🛑

I don't want to hoard my designs, I have tried things like that in the past. And I didn't like it. Tattoos are expensive, they can save a bit by bringing in a ready made design. I'm just happy people like my art and are crazy enough to put it on their skin. My feelings would be different if I was a tattoo artist. I would want to control and maintain my style and lines. But I'm not a tattoo artist, & my main source of income is paintings and large illustration commissions. I would spend more time and effort to control my designs, not let them be seen, but then I'd lose algorithm traction and it's a whole headache I avoid, intentionally.

If you want to commission a custom design for yourself, I’m here and ready to help with that. Otherwise, it's cool to take my pre existing ideas and tattoo those. Just tell people who the artist is.

Awesome word of mouth and good karma always make their way back to me, eventually.
